Some models are special, and for me, that is the
case with the Mack RD822SX in the colours of
Marinello Truck Sales.
The model is an exact replica of the full-sized
truck, down to the smallest of details resulting in
small casting changes over the other models in
the series. No matter where you look, the realism
and superb graphic application stand out.
The front bumper incorporates the main driving
lights along with a towing hitch with panels in
place where the main lights are usually located.
White rubber mud guards are fitted around the
front wheels, complete with Mack printed logos
while additional features include the additional
rear view mirrors mounted to poles on the front
bumper.
A large platform is mounted to the rear chassis
rails, finished with a delicate raised anti-slip

texture and a ladder integrated into the design for
easy access when coupling up a suitable trailer.
The red finish of the chassis allows all the casting
details to be clearly seen, with chromed fuel tanks
adding contrast. Photo-etch perforated heat
shields wrapped around the twin exhaust stacks
look good, complete with grab handles while the
central beacon unit has semi-transparent lenses
with a hint of the interior light elements.
The paint finish is excellent, with the myriad of
small graphics authentically placed to match the
original, from the pin lines on the hood panels to
the number plate printing.
For me, this release is the most eye-catching of
the series, configured with a long chassis and yet
without the ballast tray or Rockinger hitches to
make this a unique configuration.
